The Class of 53 was saddened when on August 10, 2001 they lost the first member of the 1953 graduating class at LHS. Harold Backus was from beginning to end a member of the Class of 53.

Several of the class members were able to attend Harold's services on August 12, 2001 and photos from this attendance are provided below.

Harold was remembered by his classmates as all took part in providing the flower arrangement shown in the photos.
