OK, Class Mates and cherished friends. Realize it or not it is now six
months and counting to our 50th class reunion. 192 days as a matter of
fact.
AND therefore, time for us to start reminiscing, thinking about and
planning for our celebration at homecoming 2003.
The date for homecoming can not be set until next years football
schedule is finalized and that is a few weeks off. Best current guess
from the school principle for a homecoming date is LATE October.
Since they live in the area I have recently contacted by phone Carol,
Wayne, and Lou and ask them to look into finding us a facility to
provide a meeting area for 50 to 60 people.
I also phoned Carol Ann and ask her to represent the Class of 54 and
take care of contacting her classmates without E-Mail and assisting
Carol, Wayne, and Lou in selecting a place for us to meet.
Current thinking is to use the KISS
doctoring. --- i.e. "Keep it
Simple Stupid"
With that in mind we will be looking for a facility that will allow us
to visit on the day prior to homecoming day and be together starting
around 1:00 PM in the afternoon with some nit knack foods available and
then around 6:00 PM or so we would be able to have a sit down dinner.
The dinner would be to each their own and a Dutch treat. In other words,
Order what you want from the menu and separate checks please.
After the dinner and while all are still seated I am suggesting we have
a program of sorts and allow anyone who wants to say a few words do so.
After dinner, the facility would continue to be ours until closing time
for visiting and whatever.
Since they don't have e-mail, I have been in touch by phone with 1953
classmates John Miller and Lou Sims and I will continue to keep the 1953
class members and friends informed.
Carol Ann will do the same for the 1954 class members and friends who
don't have E-Mail.
As most of you know we had some discussions last year regarding inviting
others who did not necessarily graduate from Lueders in 1953, the
general consensus was that we had several classmates who although they
did not graduate from Lueders they had in fact spent more class school
years with the Lueders Class of 53 then the classes at any other schools
and no one held the opinion that these classmates should not be invited
also.
Additional discussions were about inviting others like some of our
teachers and other cherished friends of our youth.
I believe the consensus will support my belief that we can say invite
whom ever you like and this can be done so long as we find a facility
which allows independent ordering of food and separate checks and has
adequate space for the crowd.
We will need to be kept informed of invitations to others so we can make
sure the facilities are sufficient and let the rest of the class members
know who is going to be there.
Regarding the subject of invitations and based on those names brought up
last year I have already contacted by phone and talked to Troy Denham,
Monte Nell McCowan, and Novella Edwards.
Edith and Monte Nell are planning on talking to Marie Rosenquist who now
lives in Irving, Texas.
Delores Woodruff is now on board and we have corresponded this past year
by E-Mail.
For our fun and nostalgic reasons, I have purchased the domain names of
"www.classof53.net" and "www.classof54.net" and made us a Web Site which
can be reached at either of the preceding URL addresses.
I will post a copy of this E-Mail message and future updates to our
reunion plans on the site.
On the site, I have posted the Class of 53 E-Mail addresses because I
got their permission awhile back. but, I have not posted any of the
Class of 54 because I wanted an OK from each of you least I make
somebody mad.
We may not get much use from the Class Web Site prior to the reunion
but, I figured we would be taking a lot of pictures and thought it would
be fun to have a place to post all the pictures after the reunion
because everybody who has a digital camera or scanner can E-Mail me the
images and I will post them. For now the site will be handy to keep our
reunion messages posted for folks who often times erase their E-Mail.
So now, Listen Up Folks Please, we need to start hearing
back from you and being advised of how many you will be bringing to the
reunion and their names please so we can provide this information to the
group looking into finding us a facility.
I would like to have the Class of 54 members give me permission to post
their E-Mail addresses on the Class of 54 Web Site.
As the count comes in and permission is given I will get everybody's
E-Mail listed and let everyone know by E-Mail who is planning on coming.
If anybody has a better idea or would like to do things differently then
feel free to express what you would like to see us do.
Lou now lives in Lueders and tells me she visits with Edith Ham a lot
and indications are that several other classes are planning on reunions
at homecoming 2003. So, I urge everyone to start making their plans and
lets not get caught behind the 8 ball without a facility.
I personally am looking forward to this reunion very much because I am
becoming acutely aware my future ones will be few in number.
I await to hear from you all, if for now you only reply "Message Received will get back with you" I will appreciate it and at least know you got
this message.
